The main UN platform on sustainable development, the High-level Political Forum (HLPF), will review Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) for the first time since the 2030 agenda was adopted four years ago. The specific discussion on SDG 4 will take place 3-6:00pm (NY time) on 9 July. The SDG-Education 2030 Steering Committee will be represented by its co-chairs Kazuhiro Yoshida (Japan) and Stefania Giannini (UNESCO).
The submission by the Committee highlights that the world is not on track to achieve SDG 4 by 2030 and calls to #CommitToEducation now!
Multiple education focused events will take place during the forum including a panel discussion on "Relevant, equitable and inclusive quality education for all: an imperative for the 21st century" at the Trusteeship Council Chamber, UN HQ on 15 July 6:30-8:00pm with UNESCO's Director General, Audrey Azoulay.
As lead organisation for SDG 4, UNESCO has organised multiple events.
